Friends of the School

We want you as a Friend of the School! When you support these students with your prayers, donations, scholarships, or in-kind donations of time or expertise, you're a friend.

See a list of the many people who have helped girls get an education.

Let us introduce you to one of the school's very good friends, and why she believes so deeply in helping.

Arline Ockey first heard about GMV School from a friend who goes to the school every year to teach, Barbara Fordham. She learned that you can give scholarships to girls from the poorest families so they could attend the school.

She says: "It came to me that I should do it. I thought, ‘I have to help them.’ After the first check, I wanted to send another, and another.

"I’m a firm believer in education for girls; it makes me sick to think of any girl who can’t get an education. I want these girls to have this opportunity. And then they can help the people around them.

"I just want this school to succeed.

"The girls are beautiful. You see their innocence in their faces, that they’re good people. I’m so impressed with the subjects they take. I really love them and pray for them.

"I feel strongly about this and will do it as long as I can."
